Why GeniusBrain? Why neuroscience? Why did we choose this topic?
The brain is one of the most fascinating parts of our body. It controls each and every thing we do. It allows us to think and make decisions, and conjure up vivid dreams in our sleep. The only problem is that we have little knowledge on how the brain manages to do all this. Scientists have researched and found out all sorts of things, which has aided our understanding, but this research has only just begun, and there are many more things for us to find.
One major issue is brain disorders. There are many psychological and neurodegenerative diseases with no real cure. One example is Alzheimer’s Disease. There are millions of people with this disease, but there is no cure. One in three seniors die of Alzheimer’s. We are in need of doctors and researchers who can potentially find the solution to diseases like Alzheimer’s.
So what does GeniusBrain do? We expose and educate younger students to neuroscience. We have met many high school students who are not interested in the medical field because they think it’s “too hard” or “boring”. Many elementary and middle schools offer engineering or business programs, but not medical. Our goal is to expose students to neuroscience at a young age and to build their interest. We want to educate our growing population about the wonders of the brain.
The brain is an exciting topic to learn about, and we hope that children around the world will be as excited about it as we are. Even those children can make an impact. It all starts with their interest, and it’s our job to build it.
